Milwaukee Street Car Project
Clients: The Concord Group and Milwaukee Department of Public Works
Size: 5 mile New Streetcar System
KDS & Associates provided construction management services and inspection for the construction of a new streetcar system in downtown Milwaukee. The system included construction of an operations and maintenance facility, platform stations, traffic signals and 3 traction power substations. The project was completed on time and under budget.
KDS & Associates provided MOT coordination with the City and WisDOT. The firm also provided coordination for utility relocations and installations, provided cost estimates for change order work, and assisted with designs for ADA requirements. Additionally, the firm reviewed all product and equipment submittals for approval.
CTA Blue Line O’Hare Track and Signal Renewal Design Build Project
Client: Chicago Transit Authority (CTA)
Size: New signal system and various track replacement on the Blue Line from O’Hare to Jefferson Park
KDS & Associates was involved with the design and construction oversight for a new signal system and various track replacement on the Blue Line O’Hare Branch from Jefferson Park to O’Hare. The new signal system includes 11 new signal relay houses and multiple communication and local control panel houses. The project also includes the construction of new special trackwork and contact rail at Central and Foster Crossovers. For all change order and allowance work KDS defined the scope and completed cost estimates.
CTA Red Line Addison Track Renewal Project
Client: WSP and The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA)
Size: 3000 feet of Addison tracks 1 and 2 direct fixation rail and plate replacement
KDS & Associates provided construction management and inspection services for the Chicago Transit Authority. This project involved the re-construction of the Addison Red Line Station Platform direct fixation concrete tracks. In addition, the project involved the re-construction of station platform tiles for the SB track.
The project also included a rail cutover to stage revenue trains prior to the construction of the direct fixation tracks. KDS helped define the scope and provided cost estimates.
CTA Ravenswood Loop Connector Track Renewal Project
Client: Chicago Transit Authority (CTA)
Size: 5 miles of track renewal including through Merchandise Mart
This project involved construction management services for elevated tie and rail replacement on the Brown Line from Armitage to Wells Street Bridge. The project was unique because it involved the installation of tapered track ties in the many curves contained on the Brown Line. The project also involved the replacement of new contact rail and signal amenities. In addition, it involved the reconstruction of Cleveland, Illinois, and Huron crossovers. All work took place over fifteen 56 hour weekend line cuts. KDS oversaw construction inspection services, document control, change analysis and estimating, coordination, work progress and Quality control. The project was completed on time and under budget.
